I have been reenacting the American Civil War since I was eleven years old and originally started out as a gentle southern girl, but a few months before my thirteenth birthday I decided to fight with the 1st United States Sharpshooters adn have been hooked ever since. I am now seventeen years old and have risen to the rank of Sergeant in my company, though this next year I will be the Lieutenant.

Reenacting has taught me many things and most of them not about the Civil War nor the era surrounding it, which greatly surprises most. When you reenact you learn to depend and trust those around you giving each of you a strong bond between the man fighting beside you, quite literally. Now, since i'm farther up in the ranks, I am learning responsibility and leadership and the lives of the men under my command are often in my hands. I learn quick thinking and speaking skills as I teach my subordinates and it is something that I am very glad that I have had the priviledge to do.
